Life & Legacy

At Beth Israel, we are very fortunate that, years ago, many members started our Endowment Fund. They planted trees for us, so that we could benefit from the fruits.
Even when investment markets are down, endowments are life preservers. But we need to keep planting trees so those who come after us will enjoy their bounty.

Each year, 4 percent of our Endowment goes towards the Congregation’s operating budget. That essential contribution accounts for about 20 percent of the total operating budget. As a partner in the Central Massachusetts Jewish community’s Life & Legacy Campaign, we need your help to increase our endowment.

Your commitment to our Life & Legacy effort will help to ensure a sound financial future for Congregation Beth Israel.

How much money do I need to donate now?
NONE!
The Life & Legacy Declaration of Intent is a pledge that you will designate Beth Israel as beneficiary of a portion of your life insurance or retirement accounts, or that you will include Beth Israel in your Will or Trust.  You certainly can fulfill your pledge during your lifetime, as several donors have already done. But the goal of the Life & Legacy campaign is for you to designate a portion of your estate to Beth Israel.

How much do I have to pledge?
We have not set a minimum, or a maximum. Every Declaration of Intent helps to secure our future. The amount is totally up to you.

What if I want to leave everything to my family?
We certainly understand. We have one donor who told us exactly that.  When she discussed it with her children, they told her that since Beth Israel has been a part of her life, she should include Beth Israel in her estate plan, and she has.

Please consider completing a Declaration of Intent. For more information, please contact the BI Office.

Be remembered forever by helping to sustain Congregation Beth Israel and our Central Massachusetts Jewish community. Thank you.
