About Us
Our Mission
A cornerstone of Worcester’s Jewish community since 1924, Congregation Beth Israel welcomes you to our multi-generational extended family. Here you’ll find members whose parents founded our shul, as well as newcomers to Central Massachusetts, and everyone in-between. Some of us are related, and many of us aren’t. We come from diverse backgrounds, levels of religious observance, and life styles. But we’re bound together by our shared commitment to Judaism as our guiding principle.
This is a religious community that cares — if you have a simcha to share, if you’re sick, if you experience a loss, if you’re new to Worcester and looking for a place to find fellow Jews, or if you just need to talk. We’re here for each other as a Jewish community, to pray, to learn, to listen, and to build a better world.
Mission Statement
Our Beth Israel family welcomes diverse voices as the foundation of our vibrant spiritual community. Wherever you are on your Jewish journey, join us as we seek to engage each other more deeply with our traditions and texts, and celebrate modern Jewish life. We seek to inspire through prayer, education, and connection with the land and people of Israel. We invite you to grow with us in caring for each other and for our neighbors in Worcester, central Massachusetts, and the larger world.
