Inclusion Circle

"To ensure that all who enter our space at Congregation Beth Israel are able to participate meaningfully in any and all spiritual, educational, celebratory and life event activities."

This is the mission of our Inclusion Circle, a group created in February 2016, when Congregation Beth Israel was accepted into the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism’s Ruderman Inclusion Action Communities.

The Ruderman program provides leadership support to help us look at every aspect of community - physical facilities, education programs, tefillah, social activities, as well as member and leadership attitudes--to create a blueprint for change to fully allow people with disabilities and their families to participate comfortably in the life of our congregation.

The Inclusion Circle’s work, to date, has included a survey of congregational needs, planning for Inclusion Shabbat, consultations with the Renovations Committee, developing relationships with members of The Club (a social group of local Jewish adults with physical and developmental differences) and more.

Beth Israel is committed to building an inclusive, supportive religious community for all who wish to worship and learn here. If you are interested in joining the Inclusion Circle or learning more about our programs, please contact the BI Office.
