GREETINGS FROM BROTHERHOOD

As the Brotherhood wraps up another year, we can look back at our many accomplishments this year: every Bar of Bat Mitzvah child received a Chumash from the Brotherhood, we continued our tradition of a $5000 contribution to the Beth Israel operating budget, we led the April 24th Brotherhood Shabbat and enjoyed a Grand Kiddush sponsored by Karolyn Darvish in honor of Manouch's special birthday, and we had a free "paid up members" dinner for our membership.

Our great Sunday morning breakfast tradition continued also. We always have a great breakfast, and an interesting program. This year our speakers included Dr. Joel Kaufman speaking on Health Care Reform, Dr. Melinda Boone, the new Worcester Superintendent of Schools who spoke on Educational Challenges and we had an interesting discussion with the Worcester Mayoral Candidates. In December our program featured Suzanne St. Pierre, a long time producer at "60 Minutes" who spoke about "Behind the Scenes at 60 Minutes".

In January we featured Susan Swanberg of the American Red Cross. Our March speakers included Dr. Jeremy Golding who spoke about "His Medical Relief Experiences in Haiti" and Jim Polito, a very popular Worcester radio morning talk show host. In April, Massachusetts Lt. Governor Tim Murray was our speaker and his topic was the "State of the State." In May, Rabbi Pitkowsky spoke about "The Significance of Lag B'Omer" and our final speaker of the year was Bill Ballou, a sportswriter for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette speaking about, "The World of Sports".

It has been a great year and we look forward to next year. Anyone interested in more information about the Brotherhood, sponsoring a breakfast or becoming a member should leave a message in the Beth Israel office and we will contact you.
