    New Beth Israel Synagogue Directory

The Beth Israel Membership Committee, with the support of Rabbi Schwarzman, is embarking on a new way to increase our sense of community. We are working together with Lifetouch to put together a synagogue directory, complete with member photographs (come by yourself, come with your pets, or come with the family)! We've all met people at Shul who we'd like to connect with and just can't seem to remember their names or we've heard names and never been able to put a face to those names. Now is our chance to remedy this!

At no cost to us (or to you), we will be hosting the second photography sessions on Sunday, June 10th from 11am - 7pm and on Monday, June 11th from 1pm-7pm. You may make your appointment by clicking on the Portrait Sign-Up picture, so please think about a date and time that work for you. Every family will also receive a free 8x10 portrait! There will be additional dates at the end of June and into July.

Once this project is complete, every family will receive a copy of the directory and you will also be able to view this information through a secure log-in on our website, so that we can update information as needed.

If you have any questions or interested in assisting with this project, please contact Ellen Benz at membership@bethisraelworc.org. We are looking for people who can solicit ads (yes, there is a fundraising component to this project as well) and also for people with experience in graphic design to assist with layout and pictures.

*Please note: Though we encourage full participation, you are not obligated to submit your information or attend a session. Lifetouch does not retain membership information or distribute your personal information. This directory is solely for internal use.

    SHAVUOT

Shavuot is this May 27 and 28.  Join us for a wonderful Tikun Leil Shavuot the evening of Saturday, May 26 when we will study texts on what Judaism says about conversion and hear from members of our community about their journeys to Judaism.  If you are interested in sitting on a panel to share your story of conversion to Judaism, please contact Me’ir Sherer, BI DCL, at meir.sherer@bethisraelworc.org in the week ahead, so we have enough time to prepare for our program.

    MORE ON YOM HA'ATZMAUT
    Sunday, June 3
New York City will hold its Yom Ha'atzmaut Celebration on Sunday, June 3. The greater New York Jewish community celebrates with an incredible parade - Salute to Israel - up Fifth Avenue. This year, SNEC PARTNERSHIP 2000 (southern New England consortium) is celebrating the 13th year of the Israeli Young Emissary Program and will be hosting a celebration after the parade for participating communities. If you are interested in joining us for the parade and following celebration please let Me’ir Sherer, BI DCL, know ASAP so that we can start making arrangements to go to New York for the day as a group! He can be reached at 508-756-6204 or meir.sherer@bethisraelworc.org.
